ScreenChomp Use your iPad as a Whiteboard

ScreenChomp is a great mobile app for iPad. It provides it users with a white screen where they can draw or do whatever they want. The app is very handy and smartly done and students and teachers can benefit a lot from it. There are a number of markers that you can use to make your drawings , and whatever you do on it is automatically recorded so that you will be able to see and share it with the world if you want.




Besides the Whitebaord, ScreenChomp also allows you to use  the pictures you have taken or downloaded with your iPad . You can customize them the way you want by adding, tweaking , writing or pointing arrows to illustrate whatever you are about to explain. You can also upload your favourite videos and share them with your friends using a unique URL. Videos can also be posted to Facebook with a single click or tweeted right from the app. You can also download the video as an MPEG-4 file.

A List of Excellent iPad Apps for Educators

When Apple released iPad they knew it will spark a revolution in personal computing impacting every industry even education; why not and it is one of the first mobile tablets of its kind to combine both the mobility of a cell phone and the screen of a computer.
Today, as its popularity has gained floor and a wide range of students in all over the world are using it, it becomes urgently important for educators to ponder heavily on its possibilities in enhancing learing and engaging students.





I will not talk about these possibilities here for i will include them in a fully detailed post later but rather provide you with excellent free iPad apps that both teachers and learners can securely use in education.

The following list is not conclusive so feel free to add up to it if you have new suggestions.

1- Quick Voice Recorder

 Quick Voice is a cool mobile app. It allows its users to record their ideas, voice memos, voice email, dictation, lists, meetings, classes, or entire lectures! 2- Discover — Wikipedia in a Magazine

Discover Wikipedia is a great mobile app for educators it allows them to read, explore, and search Wikipedia like a rich, glossy magazine. It is compatible with iPad and  requires iOS 4.2 or later. Check it out at Discover Wikipedia main page to downlaod and learn more about it.


3- Evernote

it is an application that allows its users to take notes , brainstorm ideas and even do recordings . If you are an educator with an iPhone or iPad then Evernote is a must for you .

4- Dropbox


It allows its users to view their photos, videos, and documents (.rtf, .txt, .doc, .pdf, etc). What really amazes me about this app is that once you install it on your computer , any file you save to it will be automatically saved to all your computers, iPhone and iPad. 5- Skype for iPad

This app allows its users to Call, video call and instant message anyone else on Skype for free. You can also use Skype Credit to conduct calls towards mobile devices as well as landlines for low rates. Learn more at Sype for iPad

6- Radial  

Radial is a cool mobile app. It allows its users to type quickly on their iPads. As you know , one of the inconveniences of the idevices is typing. Learn more at Radial speed up your typing.

7- Zite

Zite is an awesome mobile app for educators. It “ gives you personalized news, articles, blogs, videos and other content from a variety of both mainstream and niche publications and sites”. Learn more at Zite personalised magazine for your iPad

8-Show Me App

Show Me is a free mobile app. It allows its users to create interactive whiteboard-like lessons on your iPad. 9- Gradekeeper

Radial- speed up typing on iPad

Radial is a cool mobile app. It allows its users to type quickly on their iPads. As you know , one of the inconveniences of the idevices is typing. Many users find it hard to type quickly on their touch screens because they can not reach all the keys of the virtual keyboard while holding the iPad with both hands. The only solution they have is to hold the iPad with one hand and type with the other. OMG  can you imagine the hassle this situation creates ? I would not love to suffer when typing that is why i started exploring possible solutions to this problem and finally i come up with an app that you would like for sure. This app is called Radial.

Zite – personalized magazine for your mobile

Zite is an awesome mobile app for educators. It “ gives you personalized news, articles, blogs, videos and other content from a variety of both mainstream and niche publications and sites”. Zite resembles Feedly , the other mobile app we have covered in an earlier post, for they both aggregate newsfeeds and deliver them to you in such an easy and beautifully customized way.
Zite attempts to customize and deliver the type of articles you like to read in a newspaper style reading.It is Wifi- connection enabled which means that you can easily access news content with a tap of a button.






As educators , we can try Zite to make our reading experience even better. You can access the content of your favorite websites and even customize it in a newspaper style and share it with others. Invite your students to use it and enjoy the look they would have when reading the feeds of the websites they like. I am quite sure you will like this app when you try it.

Show Me - create and share interactive lessons mobile app

Show Me is a free mobile app. It allows its users to create interactive whiteboard-like lessons on your iPad. It also allows you to record voice-over whiteboard tutorials and share them online with your friends or colleagues. Show Me has already started a special page dedicated to support teachers via a gallery of lessons created by educators and each day there is  a Show Me of The Day that is added to this gallery.

Applications of Show Me in education

Educators can use Show Me app in various ways. They can use it to easily explain a range of topics from math to chemistry to music theory. They can also use it to Grade student work with commentary explaining the reasoning behind their performance. Show Me can also be use to deliver short and concise lessons to students or even get them to share  these lessons between each others.

Show Me – a great learning app

Show Me is a great learning app for educators. It allows its users to create and share lessons on the iPad. It offers a nice and intuitive whiteboard surface where lessons can be shared very easily.This app , though still in closed beta, looks like it is going to be a great app for educators. Teachers can use it to create lessons on the go and share them with their students. I am hoping Show Me will go open to public in this summer for it is the ideal tool  for this season when teachers have much more free time to create nice staff to share with their learners. I have picked up this video to let you have an idea about what this app is going to be all about.
